Math problems for smart kids? This implies the exact problem with math education in the US - children and adults are ‘scared’ of it because it’s for “smart” people. This mentality drives me insane. Math is as much for everyone as reading a book is; it is not reserved for a select few.
-J. Turner, Middle School Teacher
The purpose of the Math Club is to organize students who like Math, allow for its members to interact, promote mathematics as a tool for learning and encourage new ideas and ways of attaining personal goals. Through its “hands-on” activities, meetings, competitions and other events, the Math Club can provide members with the knowledge of increasing opportunities in the field of Math. We named this club the Team Math Masters!.
The Team Math Masters! (TMM) - math club was created to represent the student population of Walter Reed Middle School Friends that are interested in areas related to mathematics.
We started this club with friends from highly gifted middle school in Los Angeles, but now we are looking for new members all over Southern California.
Preparations for creating a math club started in December 2021, and on January 15, 2022, the first meeting was held online.
